This brief called for a new house on the lake, large enough for the extended family and guests, with both large communal and small private spaces, roomy enough to entertain yet comfortable for a retired couple. One filled with modern conveniences, while conveying the essence of a traditional Maine lakeside camp.
The result: a kitchen/great room with lofted ceiling and stone fireplace, connected to two stories with bedrooms, baths, study, and a family room above the garage. A hardscape patio on the south side of the house creates a warm micro-climate, while to the north a generous screened in porch provides a contemplative space to enjoy breezes off the lake. High efficiency mechanical systems and high-tech electronics are complimented by traditional wood finishes (v-match pine and nickel-gap) throughout.
